Meet Tess!

Tess is a shepherd mix that had been a stray surviving on her own for a couple of years. During that time she delivered several different litters of puppies.

In December of 2022 she chose a nice lady’s yard, under a shed in the very back of her property to have her last litter. We were expecting snow and below freezing temperatures one night and the property owner asked if there was anything Paws to Care could do.

Tess was nowhere to be seen. She always ran and avoided people completely. We removed the puppies to safety because of the worsening weather and set up a dog house with warm bedding by the shed in case Tess made her way back there.

In April of the next year, Tess was spotted again in the same area and we set the trap! It took a couple weeks but we finally caught her in there.

We had all of her vetting done and originally planned to release her thinking she was feral.
That decision changed quickly after meeting her and she began a journey of healing and learning to trust again! Her ‘happily ever after’ was over a year and a half in the making but it was the best decision we ever made!

Please enjoy the video below to see her whole journey home and how she’s doing now!
