About Us

Who we are and what we do

Our Story

Paws to Care began in 2017 as a way to help our local shelter by transporting animals out to no kill rescues up north. We had great success and saved thousands of lives. Over the years, and especially since Covid, the landscape of animal rescue has changed dramatically. There is a crisis in this country of animals with no place to go. Until owners spay and neuter their pets and stop the reproducing, we are bailing water with a spoon.

But we are still saving hundreds of lives each year through transport and adoption. We are stopping the cycle with our spay/neuter program. And we are helping pet owners through education and assistance when needed. We now have a large volunteer program, two small facilities to house our dogs and cats as they prepare to go to rescue, and two vans for transport and vet runs. We are not a shelter but a resource to our community. We are a grassroots organization made up of people who care from all walks of life. We have families, most of us have jobs, and we all have a heart to help people help animals.
